The axle connects to the vehicle frame and mounts the wheels via the suspension, primarily responsible for load transfer and maintaining driving function. Structurally, axles can be divided into two categories: integral axles used in conjunction with non-independent suspension, and disconnect axles used in conjunction with independent suspension. Based on the drive method, they are classified into four types: steering axles, drive axles, steering-drive axles, and support axles. In front-engine, rear-wheel-drive vehicles, the front axle is a steering axle and the rear axle is a drive axle; in front-engine, front-wheel-drive vehicles, the front axle is a steering-drive axle and the rear axle is a support axle.

The steering-drive axle uses a hollow axle housing design with an internal differential that divides the drive shaft into two half-shafts with universal joints, achieving both steering and driving functions. Vehicle maintenance requires the first service at 3000-5000 kilometers, including changing the lubricating oil, adjusting the toe-in and brake clearance, etc. Regular maintenance involves checking gear clearance and replacing worn grease every 10,000 kilometers.
