At the Commercial Vehicle Technology Day ahead of the 2026 IAA Transportation in Hanover, ZF‑CVS officially unveiled its scalable 360° safety concept for integrated truck‑and‑trailer combinations.
Unlike previous driver‑assistance systems that only protected the tractor unit, this solution integrates all radars and cameras of the trailer into the perception system via the high‑speed on‑board Ethernet link between the tractor and trailer. Sensor data from the tractor and trailer are fused to create a complete 360° environmental model, eliminating perception blind spots caused by the trailer.
✅ Key Highlights
Tractor‑trailer cooperative perception: The trailer is no longer a "blind spot" for safety systems, with high‑speed Ethernet enabling front‑and‑rear data exchange.
Upgrade from warning to active collision avoidance: Beyond mere alerts, active braking is available. It complies with EU GSR regulations MOIS/BSIS to protect vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and non‑motor‑vehicle operators.
Full‑scene coverage: Highway assistance, short‑range urban protection, and reverse automatic emergency braking for logistics yards.
Equipped with DMS driver monitoring and siren‑recognition rescue assistance to reduce the probability of daily accidents.
Scalable modular architecture: Original equipment manufacturers do not need to redesign complete vehicles. ADAS functions can be upgraded step‑by‑step, adapting to different markets and vehicle models for future autonomous driving.
